Le Cerf, ou moi qui cède à l’espace (2011-2013)

Le Cerf, ou moi qui cède à l’espace exists in two forms. First a stage performance with two dancers, a camera and real-time recordings, Le Cerf then became a dance video.

In the two cases, the work juxtaposes artistic mediums: image, music, poetry and dance to reveal a world of contrasts. On one end, a dark and closed space where a solo is performed, lit by Christmas lights; and on the other end, an open space, windswept and covered in snow where a naked body moves. Between those two spaces, skin becomes the interface between others and the self. Sensual under the twinkle of the fairy lights, the skin can also be violated by the rigors of the Canadian winter, a moment that is also the point of contact with others. In the second space, a meeting takes place, the solo becomes a duo. Intimacy then needs to be shared when confronted with hostile elements.
