One's Doubts is a performance adaptation of doubting.us, an interactive web creation by Laurier Rochon (2010). doubting.us arbitrarily superimposes text and images and allows doubt to rise from the empty space between these two forms of language. By adding movement, voice and music to the mediums used in the original work, Ariane Boulet and Gabriel Vignola, in collaboration with Laurier Rochon, are aiming to embody the mechanics of language characteristic of performance art in order to bring forth uncertainty and to give way to the spiral of unanswerable questions already present in doubting.us. Why are things the way they are? Could they have been different? Every instant’s hidden coincidence is brought forth on stage until we can see the possibility of a beautiful and important crisis.
