Eduardo is my man
He lost his mother 15 years ago
He’s a man without a mother
Mar de madre
He is all ages
He dances, strong and tall, he’s a soloist.
He must be happy.
He is the voice of a woman.
He gathers chaos, beauty.
(Beauty is something I don’t trust.)
He swears.
He’s a dancer, a real dancer.
He lies her down, leaves.
It’s over.
MA Rosa is somewhat the story of an already resolved grief – the grief of Eduardo Ruiz Vergara, the performer of the piece, who lost his mother when he was 15 years old – and of an upcoming grief – the one Ariane Boulet anticipates when her mother will pass away. The performer is called upon to cross eight waypoints, each representing youth and old age, femininity and masculinity, solitude and meeting, as the stage, covered in flowers, is transformed into a dueling space, colourful and withered; where strong colours slowly edge their way into death.
